Support Langson IMCA

Langson IMCA exists to explore the work and ideas of artists responding to the experience and environments of California, from the modern era to the present. By enabling direct interaction with art, artists, and scholars, the museum encourages critical looking and thinking that leads to a greater understanding of the world we inhabit.

Langson IMCA believes that art has the power to transform lives by catalyzing curiosity, inciting imagination, and creating opportunities for lifelong learning. You can help to sustain the impact of art and culture in our community by making a gift to Langson IMCA.

  • $250 purchases books for the art library.
  • $500 transports local K-12 public school students to the museum for a guided gallery and studio experience.
  • $1,000 supports an artist or scholar sharing insights and expertise through a public program or convening.
  • $2,500 provides professional development support to graduate students conducting curatorial or collection research.
  • $5,000 provides exhibition development and research assistance to staff and guest curators.
  • $10,000 enables a visiting artist or scholar to be in residence, interacting with students, faculty, and the general public.

Exhibition and Program Support Expand

Exhibitions utilize Langson IMCA’s collection as a springboard to examine the art, ideas, history, and experience of California. Support from donors enables Langson IMCA to invite leading artists, art historians, and others to share insights and multiple perspectives with campus and community audiences. Gifts also help the museum to underwrite expenses associated with securing loans of artworks from other institutions. Works on loan, in dialogue with Langson IMCA holdings, expand the understanding of art historical periods and artistic methods and how they were influenced by or shaped society. In addition, donations support educational activities and experiences that engage students, faculty, families, and the general public through both in-person and virtual programming, making the museum accessible to diverse audiences near and far.

K-12 Education Support Expand

Langson IMCA works with Orange County elementary and secondary schools to provide educational programs that engage teachers and students, bringing classes to the museum for in-person experiences and bringing the museum to the classroom virtually. Donations offset the cost of operating these programs, underwriting salaries for teaching artists and Langson IMCA educators; research, writing, design, and distribution of Teacher Resource Guides that align with curriculum standards; art supplies for on-site workshops; and transportation costs for students and their teachers to visit the museum.

Conservation Support Expand

Langson IMCA embraces its role as a safekeeper of California cultural history, stewarding the integrity of its collection through ongoing conservation efforts. Financial assistance enables Langson IMCA to conduct regular conservation assessments, treatments, and reframing, as needed, to ensure the long-term preservation of the collection. Gifts also support ongoing research on each object in the collection, ensuring the quality and accuracy of the information captured in the collection database. This research is often carried out by graduate students working under the guidance of Langson IMCA curators and registrars, providing them with valuable professional experience while also fulfilling an important function for the museum. Donations offset the cost of registrar and curator salaries, fees for students and contracted conservators, plus associated costs of transportation, framing, and storage.

Art Acquisitions Expand

Langson IMCA welcomes gifts of art that augment the museum’s collection, as well as funds to purchase works that strengthen the collection, expanding artists’ representation and filling in gaps in time, subject matter, and materials. For more information about donating works of art, please contact the Curatorial Department at 949-824-4866.
