Meditative Mind: Reflections in Stillness

Curated by Christin Newell, Curatorial and Research Associate, UC Irvine Langson IMCA

September 20, 2025 – January 10, 2026

In a world that moves at a relentless pace, Meditative Mind offers a quiet invitation to pause. This selection of works, drawn entirely from The Buck Collection, highlights the uplifting beauty and serenity found in artistic expressions of cognitive and natural refuges. Through subtle visual sensations and thoughtful compositions, the exhibition encourages reflection, reconnection, and a renewed appreciation for stillness. Visitors are invited to slow down, linger, and rediscover the profound tranquility that exists within and around us.

About the Curator:
Christin Newell is the Curatorial and Research Associate at UC Irvine’s Jack and Shanaz Langson Institute and Museum of California Art since 2024. She holds an MA in art history and a BA in arts management and art history from the University of Oregon. Prior to joining Langson IMCA, she worked for six years at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene, Oregon, in both curatorial and collections roles. At the JSMA, she collaborated on over a dozen exhibitions and contributed to curatorial projects across East Asian, Latin American, European, and American art. Her academic and professional work emphasizes Asian art research, curatorial stewardship, and engagement with university students.
