Museum Director
The Director of Langson IMCA reports to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of UC Irvine. Working in partnership with staff, faculty, supporters, and other key stakeholders, the Director is responsible for strategic leadership and developing vision for the Museum in its mission as an academic and public-facing institution, and for overseeing its daily operations. The Director serves as the lead ambassador for the museum locally, nationally, and globally.
The Museum Director must be an inspiring yet pragmatic leader, fundraiser, and manager who can generate ideas as well as empower and support others to implement them.

UCI Graduate Student Researcher
Department:Â Curatorial
Classification:Â Full Time / Hourly | 40 hours per week (in-office 3 days a week)

Position Summary:
The Curatorial Department at UCI Langson Institute and Museum for California Art (Langson IMCA) is accepting applications for a Graduate Student Researcher (GSR). The GSR will participate in activities including, but not limited to, the responsibilities listed below:
- Conducts research on objects and artists in Langson IMCA’s collection for curatorial projects, conservation initiatives, or public programs.
- Supports all aspects of exhibition research, development, and implementation through interdisciplinary engagement with various academic fields of study (e.g., arts, humanities, sciences, education) and outreach to cultural institutions, such as archives, libraries, artist estates, galleries, historical societies, etc.
- Assists with writing and editing exhibition-related materials, including interpretive wall texts and other exhibition-related didactic resources
- Contributes to the development and organization of the museum’s archives and rare books collection on California art and history
- Identifies and researches artists of relevance to the museum’s mission and collection
- Provides organizational support and handles sensitive and highly confidential information
 GSRs are to participate actively in the conduct of research, as described below:
- Research and collect data through complex techniques and procedures, library research, structured interviews, or other project specific methodology.
- Collect, interpret, synthesize, and analyze data/information.
- Schedule, organize, and report on status of research activities.
- Plan and modify research techniques, procedures, tests, equipment, or software management.
- Prepare materials for Human Subjects Committee review.
- Prepare interview questions.
- Recruit and/or interview subjects.
- Summarize interviews.
- Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary.
- Summarize project/research results.
- Assist in preparation of materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
- Prepare progress reports for the PI and/or funding agency.
- Write and edit materials for publication and presentation.
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations.
- Assist in monitoring the project budget.
- Manage and respond to project-related email.
- Collaborate with lab/team members.
- Sanitize and maintain lab space.
- Other duties and responsibilities.
This opportunity is open to registered UCI graduate students only. Must be able to work full-time during the 2025 summer quarter. If employment is extended to the academic year, GSR must be able up to work up to 20 hours per week during Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters 2025-2026.

UCI Student Museum Art Educator
Department: Education and Community Engagement
Classification:Â Part Time / Hourly | 4 - 10 hours per week
Quarter: Summer and Academic Year 2024 - 2025
Compensation: $16/hour
Position Summary:
As a member of the Education and Community Engagement Department, the part-time UCI Student Museum Art Educator reports to the Associate Director of Education and Community Engagement. They collaborate with a team of museum educators and teaching artists to help build relationships with partner K-12 schools and UCI. They help Langson IMCA build knowledge on California Art, art education, STEAM, 21st-century learning and pedagogy through collaboration and programs.
The Student Museum Art Educator also assists in developing and implementing the Saturday Open House event for partner classroom teachers to introduce Langson IMCA's K-12 programs and the Teacher Resource Guides derived from the exhibitions on display which serve as the museum's K-12 art curriculum.
This opportunity is open to registered UCI undergraduate and graduate students only.
Candidates must have access to a car or transportation to travel to and transport art supplies to off-site partner schools and artmaking workshops.
