Drop-in Family Workshop: Printing the Spirit of Plants
Join artist Marianne Sadowski for a gelli printmaking workshop inspired by artist Henrietta Shore’s lithographs currently on view in Spiritual Geographies: Religion and Landscape Art in California, 1890 – 1930. Participants are prompted to look closely at nature, draw the spirit of a plant, tree, or shrub, and then translate their drawing into a print. Workshop activities benefit from being at the museum for a minimum of one hour. Please arrive no later than 12 pm to complete the project onsite.
This program is designed for families with children of all ages.
Drop-in. Free and open to all. Advance registration is not required.

About the Teaching Artist
Marianne Sadowski is a visual artist born in Mexico City and currently living and working in Southern California. Her artwork reflects her fascination with the natural environment, its intrinsic changes and relationships, and in her creative practice she interrogates the impact of humanity on the natural world. Sadowski’s deep concern for social justice and human equality is expressed through her prints, mixed media work, and community projects. Her artwork has been widely exhibited internationally and she has taught art for more than 25 years in museums, schools, and non-profit organizations. Sadowski is currently a printmaking professor at California State University Long Beach.
